We are very close to Cabo San Pablo, (5417’S, 6646’W, north of Irigoyen cove, on the eastern coast of the Island of Tierra del Fuego).
This Cape received its name imposed by Captain Juan J. Elizalde on his expedition to the eastern coast of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, commemorating the day he discovered the geographical accident, on January 29, 1791.
For the native peoples the name of the Cape was “Tehis”, meaning: place name that derives from “Tehes” which means “palette or shoulder blade”.
